While Cha-Ching is not free, it does have the ability to check off a cleared transaction and call it "reconciled". What I would love is to find an apple mobile app that syncs with a pc desktop app...

Agree, reconcilement is needed. The higlight here is that Mint dose not support reconcilement as well. I am yet to find a good, free personal finance tool that support it.

100% agree that reconciliation is a requirement. I find the tool very useful otherwise, but to have Quicken not let me differentiate between new and accepted transactions... Huge mistake. I saved all receipts until I can enter them into my register (nightly). Now I will have to keep receipts until/if they post? I am software engineer as well, and I can tell you that a boolean flag tied to a checkbox "Reconcile" would be the easiest add possible to this product. I will discontinue using it until this feature is added...

I am taken aback that Quicken would declare such statements particularly in a public forum. I must admit, I don’t utilize a paper register but I do use the one provided by HSBC. It allows me to post future entries and categorize expenses but if a transaction posts to my account but is not in the register HSBC posts to the register automatically (both a convenience and .a nuisance). I have always been weary of saving financial data anywhere on the internet (including saving payment methods on my Amazon account). ;>) I have tried using GNU Cash which is open source but imports of Money or Quicken data files require a lot of modification as spending categories are not saved. As part of my New Year’s resolution I want to keep better dibs on where money is being spent so I downloaded MS Money Plus Deluxe trial to see how that goes.
